What a skin fade actually is
A skin fade blends your hair down to the skin at the sides and back. The fade can be low, medium, or high. A medium skin fade is the most common request at our Hyde Street chair.
Eric Vento left a review after his first visit: "I got a medium skin fade with my beard faded and I have to honestly say this was the best haircut I've gotten in a long time."
How to ask for it
Tell us three things. Where the fade should start. How long to leave the top. Whether you want a hard part or a natural blend. A photo helps, but your own hairline matters more than a picture.
If you want a beard faded to match, say so up front. Fading the beard into the cut is what makes the whole look land.
Beard lineups that stay crisp
A lineup sharpens the edges of your beard and hairline. Jayson rhythm came in after a Google search and left this: "Angel cut my hair and made my beard crispy."
To keep a lineup sharp between visits, avoid resting your chin on your hand and sleep on a clean pillowcase. Most lineups hold about a week before they need a touch-up.
How often to come back
A skin fade looks best within the first two weeks. Most of our regulars come every two to three weeks. A beard lineup can stretch a fade a few extra days if you are between visits.
